There’s warmth in the air. I can hear the wind. Strong winds are blowing from the North. I know what it means.
It’s not time to pack up the ashes and move to a new town like in Chocolat. It’s not time to be given a magic gingerbread man. But it is time to break camp and move on. We have stayed at this mountain long enough.
“The spirit of the Lord is like the wind you don’t know which way it will blow”, a wise man (JK) said (quoted from John 3:8). And the wind is coming from the North. It’s a new season. Spring is awakening. The warm winds that bring sunshine, wattle and jacaranda blue.
It’s time to break camp and move on.
When the Lord spoke to Moses he breathed like wind. “YHWH”: Yahweh, “I am who I am”. His name is like breath. Say it: “YHWH”. It’s breathy, it’s windy. It is who he is.
And he has breathed. He has breathed spring into being.
He has: “restored my joy
Gave me a brand new heart
Breathed on me again
Revived my lonely world.” (T. Tofa)
The Wind is like the Mistral of Provence. It clears away the fog from winter. It clears confusion, rain and snow. But it is not cold like the mistral, it is hot, like the winds of California. And when the wind blows, anything can happen.
This morning the warm winds woke me up, interrupted my cold nightmares. The wind breathed new life, a new morning, a new day. A chance to live in warmth and love, a chance to awaken.
In France there is a wind called the Mistral. K.A Walker writes: “Behind the Mistral is the beauty of Provence. Its fierceness blows away clouds and grime and doubt, leaving colours the depth of dreams and a freshness that can come only after the Mistral’s scouring. Provence needs the Mistral or it ceases to be the Provence of my dreams. I need the Mistral to cut through those dreams to truth – beauty comes after the wind.”
I can hear the wind. It sounds like wings flapping. It’s the sound of many waters, it’s the sound of tumult, the sound of an army. It’s the sound of the Almighty. Ezekiel 1:24
He breathes new life, a new season, spring.
Longfellow writes “It means youth, love, song and all that is beautiful in life." Flowers bloom, there is a spring in my step as I let my heart be awakened.
It’s time to break camp, and move on. We have stayed at this mountain long enough.
Will you step into this new day with me? Come, feel the wind on your back, let your hair blow in the wind. Open your eyes, spring is in the air. God breathes and we are awakening.
